Linda Croxson

From her early artistic exploration, Linda Croxson has devoted her practice to the thoughtful distillation of recognizable forms from everyday life into vibrant, multi-faceted abstractions which take on a new meaning all their own.

Linda has traveled and exhibited her art globally, most notably in Italy, England and the United States where she has built long-standing studio practices and communities of fellow artists whom she likes to be challenged and inspired by.

Although all of her work has its starting point in careful observation and a respect for art history, she intuitively manipulates medium, color, texture and hue to create a painting which she believes to be the creative soul of her work, finally encouraged to make an appearance through the happenstance experiment which creates a balance between freedom and order.

“I begin with a concrete entity— usually a drawing from a landscape or still life, occasionally a portrait. From there I proceed to work— altering the painting until I feel that it represents something new and effective.”

— Linda Croxson
